Bike Doctor — Motorcycle Troubleshooter

New

Pick your bike and the symptom; answer one question at a time for possible causes, safe checks and when to see a mechanic — with maintenance guides, a service log and a repair-cost estimate

This tool runs entirely in your browser — no file or data is sent to any server.

How Bike Doctor works

First choose your bike's brand and model — or, if it is not listed, "My bike isn't listed" for the general guidance. Then search for the symptom or pick a problem category. Bike Doctor asks one question at a time, narrows the possible causes from your answers, and ends by setting out what you can safely check, what is a mechanic's job and when to stop.

You can go back, change an earlier answer or start again at any point. Choosing "Not sure" still leads to a useful result.

Safety comes first

Answers that point to weak brakes, unstable steering, leaking fuel or a strong fuel smell, smoke or burning, a sudden loud engine noise or serious tyre damage stop the questions at once and show a warning: stop riding, get somewhere safe, switch off, and take the bike to a mechanic pushed or on a van, not ridden. No do-it-yourself steps are shown for these.

Where the figures come from

Tyre pressures, oil grades, chain slack and service intervals differ between models. Bike Doctor gives no figures of its own for these; it tells you where to find them — the owner's manual, the sticker on the bike, or the service booklet.

The repair-cost estimate has no prices built in — it adds up the prices you were quoted. The service log and chosen bike stay in this browser only.

Frequently asked questions

Can Bike Doctor say for certain what is wrong?
No. It gives preliminary troubleshooting guidance — possible causes and safe checks. No online tool can be certain without seeing the bike; see an experienced mechanic when needed.
My model is not listed. What do I do?
Choose "My bike isn't listed". The general guidance suits most ordinary motorcycles and scooters; anything that depends on the bike, such as whether it has a radiator, is then asked of you.
What tyre pressure should I use?
The figures in your bike's manual or on the sticker on the chain guard or swingarm — front and rear differ, and solo and two-up can too. Measure on cold tyres.
Where is my data kept?
Your chosen bike, checklist and service log stay in your browser and are not sent to a server. You can delete them at any time from the Maintenance section.
